Gigantic Pussy

In case you were wondering, this post has nothing to do with cats so read on……

And for all you guys out there – GET YOUR MINDS OUT OF THE GUTTER!

This post involves my sons again. I hate to harp on about them but they provide me with excellent fodder for my blog and it is hard to resist telling you about some of the stuff they come up with.

Son no 3 and 4 go through stages where they are the best of friends for weeks, and then they go through weeks where they want to kill each other. At the moment we are going through the latter of the 2 stages. So we have the typical pushing each other as they walk past each other, or the tripping up of each other and other subtle gestures – and of course they think I don’t see any of it.

So today we are in the car on our way to school when I asked my sons if they have any idea what I could blog about today. So Son no 3 says “you can write about what a big gigantic pussy he is”, pointing to son no 4.

So of course my mind being what it is, immediately thought what a great title for this post.

I also came accross the following and thought it was perfect for this post – enjoy……

Home Again!

I am back home in a sunny Johannesburg.

The rest of my trip to Botswana was very pleasant. I went out for a light dinner with my client on Friday night and we spent hours talking.  Always nice to just sit and chat.

I manged to have a lay in yesterday morning.  It is not often I get the privilege so had a lazy morning.  We then went to see the site where the Toyota 1000 Desert Race is usually held.  The race currently starts in a town called Kumakwane (population 3,100) – yeah, not much more I can tell you about this little town.

I am sure the pic just looks like a huge piece of open land / bush to you, but to me it was amazing.  All of a sudden I could picture the event in action.  It is always hard to imagine that  you can take this and turn it into something that entertains some 30,000 people.   But that’s what we do best in the events industry.

I would like to blog some more about this event as it intrigues me.   Motor Sports is one of the few sporting events that I actually like.  Not to mention the fact that they race bikes as well and you all know how I feel about motorbikes – even if they are not Harley’s!

We caught the late afternoon flight back home and I got home to an empty house with only son no 4 at home.  Hubby was working late at the stadium as they had a Metallica concert on and Son no 3 went to the concert along with T2 (friend of son no 2 who lives with us).  Hubby managed to arrange suite tickets for them and a few friends.

Hubby got home around 11pm and we were asleep in no time after that.  Only to be woken up at around 2.30am by the alarm going off when Son no 3 set it off sneaking back into the house.  (No, he wasn’t pissed!).  The concert finished around midnight and then they had to battle though traffic and take the young lasses home that accompanied them.

I woke at just after 7am this morning – again this is very unusual for me.  I also slept like a log.  Seems like a night away from home is a great stress relief (Shhh don’t tell hubby).

Got to go shopping for some basic Belly Dance gear this morning.  I am supposed to be taking part in the beginners group on World Belly Dance Day on the 11th May and need something to wear.  This is the first time I will be performing in public and can feel the butterflies starting to swarm in my stomach.

Hope you’re all having a good weekend.

Jet Setting

I am writing this post from Botswana. I was up at 3am this morning, to leave for the airport at 4 for a 6am flight.

I have never been to Botswana before even though it is just a hop skip and a jump from Johannesburg. The flight was 45 minutes on a little plane – with propellers – not the sort where the model no starts with a 747…..

I am here with a client to have a look at the site for the Toyota Desert Race which takes place each year in about June. In case you didn’t know, I work in the eventing industry so I was quite intrigued by this event as it is somewhat different to what I usually work on.

The flight was pretty good. Landed in Gaborone, Botswana. Gaborone is the capital of Botswana and has a propulation of around 250,000 – nothing compared to the 6million odd people in Johannesburg. The airport was pretty deserted so getting through passport control was a breeze.

We then went off to a meeting with the Department of Tourism. The Police Commissioner and various other governmental departments and council departments were also there. The meeting went really well and I was VERY impressed with the attitude of the various departments and how they were all willing to work together to get things done. Not typical where I come from.

We then went for a quick bite to eat and I am now sitting in the Gaborone Sun Hotel and Casino amusing myself (aka blogging).

I haven’t seen too much of Botswana as yet. The atmosphere is very pleasant and in fact I feel very safe here (I know this is a strange thing to say but I come from Johannesburg so safety is always on my mind).

It has a slightly rustic / rural feel to it but everything seems to work and seems to be relatively efficient in its own way.

I am only here for 1 night and will hopefully have some more to blog about tomorrow.

Ciao for now

Messages on a Board – Poi

I told you about the messages my son leaves on my board in the kitchen a few days ago.  He wrote a new meassge today so I thought I would share.  This one has a bit of a story.

My son has suddenly discovered POI.  Now I had no idea what this was until a couple of days ago. Apparently there is a kid at school who does it and my son now wants to go for lessons blah blah blah.  Needless to say, he has started twirling any and everything he can find in the house.  Not only does he want to do Poi (hope I’ve used the term correctly), but he wants to do “Fire Poi”.

So he is now trying to talk me into a) paying for the lessons and b) buying his POI “gear”.

My son sent me a few YouTube clips as part of his sales pitch and of course mentioned that clip no 3 shows how I can go for lessons as well and use it with my Belly Dancing.  (Yeah….maybe not!).

Feel free to view the clips below.

Should I Let My Son Get A Tattoo?

Son no 3 turns 16 next month and he wants a tattoo.  Hubby is cool with it.  I’ve said he can have one only if it says “I love my Mum” somewhere on it.  After much deliberation, I have agreed to go with the majority vote on my blog.

So come on fellow bloggers, please vote – it will only take a few seconds.  No pressure to side with me on this one…..

  • Yes
  • No
  • Only if it says I LOVE MY MUM

Let me know what you think – comments welcome!

Winter is Coming

I know most of my fellow bloggers are going into summer now so I thought I would give you a glimpse into South Africa going into winter.

As we are based in the Southern Hemisphere, we have summer at Christmas and Winter in July.

I live in Sandton, Johannesburg and we get the most beautiful blue winter skies.   We generally don’t get any rain in winter (Except for this week as it’s been pissing it down for days).  So although it gets rather cold over night, settling at around zero degrees Celsius, the days warm up to around 18 degrees Celsius.   Most days are very comfortable but we do get the odd cold spell where it really is freezing.  We don’t get any snow out here but we have had the odd sprinkling of what we would describe as snow but probably isn’t.

Our little bit of “snow” a few years back

I have a beautiful tree just outside my house which keeps my lounge and bedrooms lovely and cool in Summer and it loses all its leaves in winter and allows the light and warmth in.

Our tree in Summer

Our tree going into Winter

Although our winters are reasonably mild here, I hate the cold.

Lesbian’s Sex Tape

I have a whiteboard on the wall in my kitchen and my family knows that if they want something from the store, they need to write it on the board.  Otherwise I don’t buy it.  I have explained to them on numerous occasions that I don’t have time to inspect the cupboards before I go shopping to make a list of what we need.

Don’t just tell me you’ve run out of toothpaste or shampoo and can I buy some next time I go shopping.  I won’t remember!  Write it on the board.  Then when I go shopping, I take a pic of the board with my phone and Voila!  I have an instant shopping list.

So my 15 years old son has gotten into the habit of making notes on the board – sometimes he writes a random poem and sometimes he makes a wish list, and sometimes he tries his luck with something like the note below.  So I thought I would start putting these on my blog.

Shhhh – Don’t tell him else he’ll stop.

This is his latest message…..
