Me Time

Being the mother of 4 and a full time career women, I don’t get much time to myself.  Although I must admit now that 2 of my boys have left home and the other 2 are both teenagers, I do get a lot more me time.

Me time is a purely selfish time when no one else exists.  I am the only person that matters.  A time where I get to decide what to do and where to do it.  These are sensual moments for me.

My favorite place to relax is in the bath. This is when I get to clear my mind. Usually at night when everyone else has gone to bed and I can switch off from anything and everything.

I love my bathroom.  We had it refurbished a few years ago.  Hubby wanted a big shower and I wanted a Jacuzzi bath.  So we compromised and got both.  This is one of the best decisions I have ever made as my bathroom has become my sanctuary.

I love to keep a vase of brightly colored flowers next to my bath.  It helps to make it a happy place. Not to mention that is provides a sweet aroma that lingers in the air.

Once everyone has gone to bed or when the rest of the family are still out for the day, I run a hot bath.  While my bath is running, I light some scented candles – rich vanilla and caramel swirl is my favorite, specifically chosen using the fragrance finder of one of my favorite air freshener companies.

I dab a little bubble bath into the water and then I reach for the light switch, switching off the bright

white light that fills my bathroom.  I am left with a gentle yellow glow of the flickering flames.

It is now time for me to slowly undress and gently slip into the water.  The water envelops me in warmth.  I press the switch to start the jets which encourage frothy bubbles to form over the curves of my breasts.

I reach for my iPad and settle down to read a trashy novel.  Something where I don’t need to think but am sent to a fantasy place where women are enticed by men with muscular bodies and throbbing loins.

At last, I am in heaven!

Look At My Boobies

Boobs seem to be the topic for the month.  And rightly so as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I am sure you have all noticed the various awareness campaigns and there are three in particular that have caught my eye.

The first campaign was sent to me by a friend on Facebook.  Women are requested to change their Facebook status to “I like it on……..”  adding where you like to put your handbag when you get home. Last year the same campaign ran but you had to post the color of the bra you were wearing …and it left men wondering for days, why women were posting colors, seemingly at random.

So women are posting comments like this for this year campaign:

  • I like it on my desk
  • I like it on the kitchen counter
  • I like it on the bedroom floor
  • I like it on the couch

The second campaign is called #Mamming. #Mamming is the act of laying your (clothed) boobs on a flat surface like a counter or any other object and taking a picture of them and posting it online.  (In the spirit of the campaign, I have posted a pic of mine below)

I came across this campaign in one of our local news sites – View article here.

Why would you want to do this you may be asking.  Well, it is to emphasize the importance of having a regular mammogram done. Having a mammogram done is one of the most uncomfortable things a woman can do – right up there with going for a pap smear.

Michelle Lamont and Michele Jaret are the two women behind this campaign and has women all over the world resting their breasts on surfaces and posting their pictures online with #mamming.

So dear ladies – get out there and take some pictures of your boobs and send them to me with #mamming.  Let’s see how many of you are in support of this campaign.

The third campaign involves Harley Davidson – and as you all know, I have a fetish for all things Harley.

Harley Davidson’s guiding philisophy is “No one rides alone“.  And they have decided to support Breast Cancer Awareness month with the sale of Pink Label Merchandise.

Harley-Davidson riders share a special bond of support both on and off the road, whether it is for a flat tire or something deeper. The proceeds of the sales will go to 2 organizations – National Breast Cancer Foundation’s “Beyond the Shock®” program and the Young Survival Coalition.

In support of this campaign, I went out and bought a Pink Harley shirt – not that I needed an excuse to visit the Harley shop but thought it deserved a special trip for this campaign.

Watch Me Jiggle My Jiggly Bits

For those of you who wanted to see some of my Belly Dance Debut – watch me jiggle my jiggly bits here.  This is the opening number from the show.  I will post some more once I get the actual DVD from the Videographer.

I am part of the third group of dancers to come onto stage (after the pregnant pause and clapping – about 3:30 into it).  I am in the front row, second from the left in the purple costume.

I’m Such a Brave Girl

I bought a 4×4 vehicle 3 years ago.  It is a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado top the range VX model.  Now I didn’t buy it to specifically go 4×4’ing – I bought it because I thought it was an awesome vehicle – I mean why else would you buy a vehicle.  I liked the inside – leather seats and really comfy.  The entertainment system is super – my iPhone and iPod bluetooth into it.  And it came in Gold – the primary reason why any girl would buy this vehicle.

Yes, it is a petrol (gas) guzzler and I won’t even think about telling you what my petrol bill is each month.  Do I feel guilty about destroying the environment – well just a little.

Oh, and did I mention I feel safe driving it in and around Johannesburg – not one of the safest places on earth!  And being a mom, I often find myself having to do a taxi run in the middle of the night fetching and carrying kids.

Anyway, when I purchased my vehicle I wanted to go on the 4×4 course offered by Toyota.  4×4’ing is something that I am actually keen on doing.  So back then I was a little reluctant to go on my own and my sons are all wimps (yes!  I mean all 4 of you so don’t pretend you don’t know who I’m referring to) and it is really not Hubby’s thing.  So at the time I didn’t go on the course and it is something that I keep wanting to do.

So Toyota have just offered another course and I decided to take advantage this time – I invited Hubby and Sons and they either come or don’t come and I would go alone if necessary.

The course was today.  Hubby declined the invitation but Son no 1, his wife and Son no 4 joined me.

Bass Lake

We had to take almost an hours drive to Bass Lake for the course.  We got there at just before 8am to a warm breakfast that was prepared for us.  The place was absolutely beautiful.. It is an old quarry and the quarry is now filled with water and they do all sorts of outdoor adventure type stuff there.

Conference Room

After breakfast, we headed to the conference room where our instructor (Alan), gave us a 4×4’ing 101 lecture.  He described diff’s and diff locks and skid control, traction, breaking, speed control, low gear, high gear, multi-terrain settings etc etc.  Terms a girl never wants to hear.

I must admit I walked out there feeling a little less brave.  We headed to our vehicles where Alan came over to each vehicle and explained the various buttons and levers we all have (Oh, so that’s what this button does!).

Right, off we go, in low gear with the centre diff locked (see I do pay attention).

Out into the bush we go….

Alan explains each obstacle to us outside our vehicles and let’s us watch the reaction of the vehicles as we  all drive through

My first obstacle was a little nerve racking as my wheels just kept on spinning (probably a setting as Alan had to call another chap over to go through the menu settings on my vehicle).  I did learn a great trick though and this was to engage the crawl function on my vehicle and it automatically does anything and everything for me – all I have to do is steer.  I only used this function once but it is a really cool function.

I managed to get through all the obstacles and am quite proud of myself.  I won’t bore you with too much more.  Probably easier if I show your some photographs with annotations.  I have also included a few YouTube video’s at the endso you can see me in action.

Enjoy ……

Idea of the general terrain and obstacles

More terrain

And some more

First obstacle I went through where I had 2 wheels off the ground (scary stuff!)

And up we go

And down we go

And down some more

Wanna Feel My Jugs

I have done something I’ve never done before!  I went to an Oktober Beerfest (I really don’t get out much).

I was invited to join my brother and his friends and staff at their table at the annual Oktober Beerfest at Montecasino last night.  I wasn’t going to go originally but thought I could do with a night out – best case I would have some fun, and the worst case I would have a night out with friends and family.

I knew the night was going to be a whole bunch of fun when I started receiving selfies from the girls at my brothers office asking me when I would be arriving as they were doing hair and make-up.

The office is just across the road from the venue so I stopped by the office to have my touch-up’s done to my make-up.  The girls were already light-headed as my brother had been lacing their drinks all afternoon with Tequila (My brother has a nasty sense of humor 🙂  ).

Anyway – after much debating about what to wear / accessorize we finally headed out the door.

We arrived just on time.  There was a desk near the door for a driver service for those that were expecting to have a few too many.  You were obviously charged a fee and got a free T-Shirt to wear indicating that they were responsible for taking you home later.

There were already loads of people there and the band had not started yet.  So we sat down to some snacks on the table and ordered our first round of beer.  There was a variety of beer on tap so I went with what everyone else was having – I started with a “girls” beer.  Tasted more like pee so moved on to another brand as the night wore on.  We all donned our aprons – all the girls opted for the aprons with the “BIG JUGS” on.

Nice Jugs

One of the young ladies in our crowd (lets caller her Miss M) was being eyed out by one of the guys sitting at a table close-by.  Miss M is pretty, young and slender and was wearing a tight fitting dress – so she looked seriously HOT!    Anyway, he eventually beckoned her over to his table.  Now he looked extremely hot as well and I found myself drooling, but there is no way I could have competed with Miss M – I am slightly older and wider wiser.  So she ventured over and they had a chat.  He seemed like a really nice guy and they chatted for a minute or 2 before she came back over to our table.

Lots of flirting across the room by the two of them ensued and he eventually ventured over to our table and bought shots of Jagermeisters for our entire table (16 of us).  Not to mention the HUGE tip he gave the waitress.  Anyway, there I was drooling downing my shot watching these two get on really well.  (She is recently single so was nice to see her having fun after a break-up).

After about 5 minutes, Miss M leans over the table to me and mentions that he just asked her to join him in the toilets for a “quickie”.  She was stunned and didn’t know how to react.  I couldn’t help but laugh – took him less than 10 minutes from first meet to ask this question.   And all of a sudden he didn’t look so hot anymore.  So she very quickly told him where to shove his advances.

Miss M was certainly the highlight of the evening.  After slightly too many beers and a little too much fun, we all found ourselves dancing in the aisles with everyone else.  However, ALL the guys were circling around her with their phones out taking pictures and taking video’s of Miss M dancing.

The VIP tables had extra large beer mugs on that you could take home.  Miss M wanted one for herself so eventually she plucked up the courage (or lost her inhibitions – not sure which) and ventured over to one of the VIP tables to where a bunch of “older” men were sitting.    Her pick up line was “nice glasses” and she asked if she could please have one of the mugs to take home.  They gladly obliged and she walked off with 6.  She did pose for a photo or 2 with them as well so they didn’t walk off empty handed.

Our entire crowd had good clean fun all evening.  Some had slightly more beer fun than the rest of us but we all found ourselves laughing and dancing.

The event was finally shut down at 11.30pm so we had to leave.  I can’t remember when last I had so much fun so really glad I went.

Eventually got into bed at around 12.30am and suddenly noticed I had lost my belly ring – after the last saga with losing part of it a few weeks ago, I was prepared this time and had some spares (Read previous post about this #awkward moment here)

Tantalizing Tuesday – A little late

Tuesday is almost over and I forgot to put up my Tantalizing Tuesday post.  So here goes……

Seeing as though cricket season is just starting here in South Africa, I thought I would showcase a true hero in South African Cricket – Graeme Smith.  He is currently the captain of the South African Cricket Team.

I didn’t realize how good looking he was – he doesn’t even need to take any clothes off to get me hot and bothered.

Rub Me Some More

In case you are wondering about the title – it is very apt for this post.  It is my daughter-in-laws’s birthday tomorrow so I thought I would treat her (and me) to a day at the Spa today.  A girls day out! Yes, it was a selfish gift.  An excuse I needed to have a day of pampering and being rubbed from head to toe.

I made a booking for us to go to the Mangwanani African Day spa which is about an hours drive from Johannesburg.  We usually catch the bus as it adds to the enjoyment for the day (and also means I can have a couple of drinks during the day without worrying about driving).

Anyway, I collected my Daughter at 6.30 this morning and arrived at Montecasino at around 7 – the bus leaves from there at around 7.30.  We are welcomed with champagne and orange juice.

Bus waiting for us all to arrive

Upon arrival at Mangwanani, we are met by the therapists welcoming us with a drumming song.

Welcoming committee

We are then shown into the breakfast room where we are seated at specific tables for the day.  We need to remember our table number as our treatments are all linked to this number for the day.

Breakfast consisted with more champagne and orange juice, a yogurt and muesli cup, muffins and tea.

After breakfast we are asked to change into our swimsuits and a gown and slippers which they supply.  We then wait outside on one of the sun loungers for our table number to be called and they show us to our relevant treatment area.  In between treatments, we are offered a beverage.

Our first treatment was the Jacuzzi.  We were the only ones allocated to the Jacuzzi so we sat for almost an hour sipping wine (yeah I know 9.30am is probably slightly early for a glass of wine but I wont tell anyone if you dont).

After the Jacuzzi we had our faces painted and then went for a hand and arm treatment.

After the hand and arm treatment, it was off to another area to have our head and shoulder massage. They use special oils for the massage so by the time they are finished, your nicely done hair is full of oil and other stuff.(yuk!)  We sat overlooking the river – absolutely stunning views

Then it was off to one of the private cabins for a full body massage with hot rocks.

Then it was lunch time.  Lunch consisted of a chicken wrap with salad and loads of deserts.  I was stuffed by then but forced myself to have a little ice-cream.

After lunch we were treated to some more singing and dancing by the therapists.

Then we went for a foot massage.

And after the foot massage we were transported via golf carts to another area for our facials and full body scrub.

At the end of the day, we put our clothes back on and joined everyone for a shot of Amarula Cream and a chocolate while waiting for the buses to fetch us again to take us back to Johannesburg.

I have added a few more pictures below hoping you are not bored by my sheer indulgence for the day.

I had really great day with my Daughter-in-law.  We had some great bonding time and got back home feeling very relaxed (and sore from all the massaging).

If you ever find yourselves in this part of the world – you must spend a day at the Mangwanani African Day Spa.  It is an experience of a life time and you will not regret it.
