It is also great for promoting my blog as my followers get links to my posts and in turn their followers can see who they follow and well it is self perpetuating (in theory).
But you see this is where I see a problem – I see all these people with thousands of twitter followers

and I have to assume they follow most of them back.
I currently follow about 250 Twitterers and it would take me all day just to keep up with the tweets I get everyday – and believe you me I do actually try to get through as many as I can each day. I would never get any work done. Now I am not even talking about actually reading every tweet, I’m just talking about scanning and picking out the ones I want to actually read.
So am I being stupid and does nobody else have this problem. How do all these #mega-twits (my name for a person who has thousands of twitter followers) actually read or even attempt to read any tweets?
Jus sayin……
I certainly don't read all the Tweet that roll up on my Twitter Feed.I scan, speed read and watch my interactions and mentions. I don't even use the DMs
I follow lots of blogs maybe 50+ and they don't post everyday, still it takes lots of time reading. Some people on twitter seem to tweet every 5 minutes…following thousands…I don't get it either!
I don't read all the tweets on my feed. It's impossible. We all have busy lives and can't be looking at Twitter 24/7. I go on it certain times throughout the day to get a quick peek at the @connect page to see interactions and mentions, and to post recent blog posts, offer retweets to my blog followers of my older posts, and to also retweet their newest posts to my followers. Yes, it does take a lot of time and work. Just schedule to look at it a few times a day and don't get too obssesive over it. Also, join Triberr as I have. Get involved in and join blog tribes. You can get a lot of views that way and people will tweet out your posts.
Honestly, I'm not a fan of Twitter at all! I only use it to promote a new blog post–I have no interest in chatting there with people. I prefer Facebook any day!
